First Visit

We’re excited to welcome you to our practice. When you arrive at San Marcos Orthodontics, please check in with our receptionist so we can get you settled in and ready for your appointment.

During your first visit, Dr. Ehsani or Dr. Sabet will perform a comprehensive orthodontic evaluation and explain what we see, what it means for your smile, and what your best next steps may be.

What Happens During Your Initial Orthodontic Evaluation?

Your first visit is focused on learning about your smile and identifying any orthodontic concerns. During this appointment, we will:

  • Identify any orthodontic problems
  • Determine the ideal timing for treatment
  • Discuss the most appropriate treatment method
  • Estimate the expected length of treatment
  • Review the investment required for treatment

Our goal is to help you feel informed, comfortable, and confident about your options before moving forward.

What Happens Next After Your First Visit?

If orthodontic treatment is recommended, we will schedule an appointment for Diagnostic Records. In some cases, these records may be taken during your first visit, depending on time and availability.

What Are Diagnostic Records?

Diagnostic Records give our orthodontists the detailed information needed to create a fully customized treatment plan. These records may include:

  • Impressions or digital records for study models of your teeth
  • Panoramic and cephalometric X-rays, along with analysis
  • A detailed evaluation by Dr. Ehsani or Dr. Sabet to finalize the most effective treatment plan

What Questions Do We Answer During Your First Visit?

At your first visit, we address several key questions to help you understand your orthodontic needs, including:

  • Does orthodontic treatment help with this condition?
  • Is now the ideal time to begin treatment?
  • What types of treatment are appropriate for your case?
  • Will any teeth need to be removed to achieve the best results?
  • How long will treatment take?
  • What will the total fee be, and what payment options are available?

A more detailed plan is finalized after Dr. Ehsani or Dr. Sabet reviews your diagnostic records and determines the best course of treatment.

How Much Does Orthodontic Treatment Cost?

The cost of orthodontic treatment varies depending on the complexity of your case and the type of treatment recommended. During your initial visit, our treatment coordinator will review:

  • Estimated treatment fees
  • Available payment plans
  • Insurance benefit details (when applicable)

We offer flexible payment options to help make orthodontic care affordable and accessible for families.

How Does Insurance Work for Orthodontic Treatment?

We work with many insurance plans and can help you understand how your orthodontic benefits apply. If we are not able to accept your insurance benefits directly, we will assist with filing claims so you can receive reimbursement.

Please let us know if your insurance changes at any point during treatment so we can update your account accordingly.

How Do Scheduling and Appointment Times Work?

We do our best to stay on time and respect your schedule. Each appointment is carefully planned to support steady progress, provide patient education, and allow time for questions.

Arriving on time helps us keep appointments running smoothly for you and for every patient scheduled that day. We truly appreciate your punctuality and cooperation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions before your first orthodontic visit? Here are a few of the most common things patients and parents ask so you can feel prepared and confident before you come in.

Most first visits take about 30 to 60 minutes. This gives our team time to complete your evaluation, review findings, and discuss next steps without rushing.

No referral is needed. You can contact our office directly to schedule your first visit for yourself or your child.

If available, bring your insurance information and any relevant dental or orthodontic records. If you have questions or concerns, feel free to bring a list so nothing is missed.

Sometimes. If diagnostic records are needed, they may be taken during your first visit depending on time and availability, or scheduled for a follow-up appointment.

That’s completely okay. After your evaluation, you can take time to consider your options. If treatment timing is not ideal yet, we may recommend monitoring and scheduling a future check-in.
